When a PVC requests storage in Kubernetes, the system follows this process:

1. First, Kubernetes checks if there are any existing PVs that match the PVC's requirements (storage size, access modes, storage class, etc.).

2. If a matching pre-created PV exists, Kubernetes binds the PVC to that PV.

3. If no matching PV exists, what happens next depends on whether the PVC specifies a StorageClass:

   • If the PVC specifies a StorageClass that has a provisioner configured, Kubernetes will use dynamic provisioning to automatically create a new PV that meets the requirements.

   • If the PVC doesn't specify a StorageClass or specifies a StorageClass without a provisioner, the PVC will remain in a "Pending" state indefinitely until a matching PV is manually created.
